THE GOAL: ELIMINATION

Surprisingly, Schistosomiasis is one of the most cost effective diseases to treat. When combined with basic sanitation and a better understanding of the conditions in which it spreads - a single dose of the drug Praziquantel each year can help to eliminate the disease on a permanent basis.

With a commitment from Merck KGaA Darmstadt, Germany to donate up to 250 million Praziquantel tablets each year, the Global Schistosomiasis Alliance (GSA) will encourage governments and international partners to show their support, make tangible commitments and mobilise the resources required to eliminate Schistosomiasis for good.
